The end of the school year is approaching at Struthers High School, which means that incentives for students will be happening. Samantha Minno, a sophomore at Struthers, will be attending all three events that are provided.
There are three different events that reward the students for their hard work all year. These include the Outdoor Day, Student of the Month lunch, and the Underclassmen Awards.
Each get-together rewards students in their own way.
“The purpose of these events is to give a reward to students who have improved themselves and become better people throughout the school year,” says Minno.
There are few requirements that the children must meet to be able to go to these incentives. Your performance in school is very significant to whether or not you are able to attend.
There are multiple standards you must fit in order to get invited.
“You have to have good attendance, good grades, Wildcat Wins, Student of the Month nominations, or good recommendations from teachers,” says the sophomore.
Each incentive focuses on certain aspects of hard work in school. The Student of the Month lunch rewards the Students of the Month, the Underclassmen Awards Ceremony gives awards to each hardworking person, and the Outdoor Day is for everyone who has good grades and attendance.
The three events aim for three different kinds of fun.
“At the Underclassmen Awards, the teacher picks students that stood out to them and gives them a certificate. The Student of the Month Lunch is at the Magic Tree and if you got Student of the Month you get to eat food and get ice cream. The PBIS outdoor incentive, you spend around an hour on the football field eating snow cones and hanging out with your friends,” says the student.
