What are your future plans? My future plans are to continue my education and eventually become a nurse practitioner.

What has your favorite memory of high school been? My favorite high school memories were definitely during junior year, when I’d just have fun with my friends when we weren’t busy.

What are you most looking forward to in the near future? I’m most looking forward to making money and starting a family.

Has senioritis kicked in yet? My senioritis kicked in a long time ago.

What are you going to miss most about high school? I’m really going to miss the community aspect of seeing my friends all day every day.

What’s something you learned in high school that you’ll take with you throughout the rest of your life? I’ve learned a lot about patience and working hard being keys to succeeding.

Are you excited about the year ending? Why or why not? Yes! I can’t wait to start the next chapter of my life.

Which end of the year event are you most excited for? I’m definitely most excited for Prom.

 

Nevaeh Hammond

What are your future plans? I am currently in Army Reserves; I plan on furthering my education in college to be a dermatologist.

What has your favorite memory of high school been? My favorite memory in high school would be coming back to everyone my freshman year and feeling like I was back at home.

What are you most looking forward to in the near future? I’m most looking forward to becoming successful in life and traveling anywhere I want around the world.

Has senioritis kicked in yet? Yes, my senioritis had kicked in after the second 9 weeks.

What are you going to miss most about high school? What I’ll miss most is my class, most of us grew up together since elementary school.

What’s something you learned in high school that you’ll take with you throughout the rest of your life? I learned to go all out with everything you do in life.

Are you excited about the year ending? Why or why not? Yes, I am very excited to start the next chapter in my life.

Which end of the year event are you most excited for? I’m most excited for graduation because then it’ll all be over, new opportunities and blessings will begin.  

 

Melissa Maro

What are your future plans? In the future, I plan to go to YSU to major in business administration.

What has your favorite memory of high school been? My favorite memories of high school have to be spending time with friends during and after school throughout the year.

What are you most looking forward to in the near future? I’m looking forward to summer with the good weather and the joy of knowing we got through high school.

Has senioritis kicked in yet? Senioritis kicked in for me back in November, making this year feel like it took forever.

What are you going to miss most about high school? I’m going to miss the consistency of knowing exactly where to go and what to do every day, but I’m looking forward to the change of pace.

What’s something you learned in high school that you’ll take with you throughout the rest of your life? I learned that things aren’t that important right now. Mistakes aren’t the end of the world and you can still grow and learn from any experience so don’t get hung up on the little things.

Are you excited about the year ending? Why or why not? I am so excited for the year to end. There’s so much life to live after high school, and I can’t wait to experience it.

Which end of the year event are you most excited for? I am most looking forward to Senior Awards night. Getting to see how much we’ve accomplished as a class for ourselves is super exciting.

Ava Pokopatz

What are your future plans? I am planning to attend the University of Mount Union to major in nursing.

What has your favorite memory of high school been? My favorite memory from high school has to be the first football game of senior year. It was so great seeing everyone come together and to watch the people I grew up with play their last first game. It was such a great moment, and I’m so happy I got to experience it. 

What are you most looking forward to in the near future?  I’m looking forward to going to college to really find myself not only in my personal life but in my future career as well.

Has senioritis kicked in yet? Yes, senioritis has kicked in, but I’m pushing through it.

What are you going to miss most about high school? I’m going to miss the school spirit that the Class of 2024 has and just sitting with all of my friends and seeing them every day.

What’s something you learned in high school that you’ll take with you throughout the rest of your life? I’ve learned to not let others’ words affect you, be yourself, and if people don’t like that then they truly aren’t your friends. 

Are you excited about the year ending? Why or why not? Yes, I’m so excited to see how my life will be after high school. I’m going to miss it but I feel like there is so much more for me to learn and experience outside of high school.

Which end of the year event are you most excited for? The thing I’m most excited for definitely has to be either our senior sunset or going to cedar point for our senior trip.

 

Gabby Russell

What are your future plans? My future plans after high school are to attend YSU for forensic criminology.

What has your favorite memory of high school been? My favorite memory was senior sunrise and getting to be with my grade all together and getting to watch the sunrise. 

What are you most looking forward to in the near future? In the near future I am most excited for commencement, because I’m excited to graduate. 

Has senioritis kicked in yet? Yes, 100%! I am ready to graduate!

What are you going to miss most about high school? I am going to miss my friends that are still in high school. I will also miss the Friday night games and getting ready for dances. 

What’s something you learned in high school that you’ll take with you throughout the rest of your life? I’ve learned that time flies and do not take any second for granted because you never know what is going to happen in the future. 

Are you excited about the year ending? Why or why not? Yes, I am because I am ready to start my new journey and take the next step in my life. 

Which end of the year event are you most excited for? I am most excited for Prom. I am most excited for it because it is my last ever dance and I can’t wait to dress up and take pictures with my friends for the last time.

Carley Johnston
Carley Johnston, Feature Writer
Carley is 17 years old and a senior. She is in Journalism II. Carley’s favorite food is Broccoli Chicken Alfredo, and her favorite color is purple. Her favorite subjects are English electives, and her favorite teachers are Mrs. Mickler and Mrs. Lambert. Carley enjoys listening to many different genres of music, and her favorite movie is “Central Intelligence.” Carley is very involved, both inside and outside of the school and classroom. She is a member of the Struthers Color Guard, and is finishing out her 5th and final year. Carley is also the team captain of her competitive dance team. She dances at Torrie’s Academy of Dance in Boardman, where she’s been dancing since the age of three. Carley is also involved in many different school clubs, such as Interact, Future teachers, Medical Careers, and French Club. She is also a LINK leader. Carley has previously been a news writer, but is now doing features. Carley is looking forward to graduating and beginning the next chapter of her life and career. She isn’t sure where she’d like to go to college just yet, but wants to double major in Exercise Science and Dance.

Isabella Sferra is the News Editor and Journalism II student.  She is President of the Future Teachers Club, President of the Starlight Singers and a National Honor Society member. She loves reading and listening to music. Isabella plans on attending Youngstown State University to become an English teacher.
