Christian Pascarella is a senior at Struthers High School who just signed to Westminster College.
Pascarella has been playing tackle football for 9 years. The senior starts both offense and defense. On offense, he plays slot receiver, and on defense, he plays cornerback and safety. The senior has always had the thought of playing football at the college level, but his senior year made him realize he really wanted to play.
The football player would miss the game too much if he didn’t play in college.
“After I was invited to a visit by Westminster is when I truly decided I was going to keep playing,” says Pascarella.
Westminster stood out to Pascarella because of the coaching staff and deep tradition the school has. During the recruiting process, the senior was looking at a couple other small schools, but no school caught his attention like Westminster. Pascarella also received the Westminster reward: getting $30,000 each year.
Westminster is known for excellence, which is what sticks out to the student-athlete.
“The school is known for excellence, not only on the football field, but in the classroom as well, so I think it is a perfect fit,” says Pascarella.
Pascarella has been preparing for college by sticking to a strict schedule. He starts by waking up at 5am to workout, then he goes to school and gets all his work done, and after school, he goes to work. The senior plans to major in Secondary Education for Math.
Westminster is a perfect fit for Secondary Education.
“Westminster was a school built for teaching, which was perfect for my major. Their high employability rate right out of college was also very intriguing,” says Pascarella.
