Owen Eisenbraun and Clare Coppola are stars on the Struthers High School bowling team. Eisenbraun, sophomore, placed second in the Brush Arc Invitational meet and Coppola, junior, placed fifth in the meet.
Eisenbraun is a dedicated player on the bowling team. He puts plenty of effort and time into his skills and his overall game.
The bowler has had a few big accomplishments this season, but he cherishes some more than others.
“Getting second overall at the Brush Arc Invitational and setting my new high game of 280 were by far the biggest accomplishments I have made so far,” says Eisenbraun.
Bowling is not as simple as some may think. It takes a bunch of practice and even more critiquing skills.
Eisenbraun has mastered what has helped him perform so well at meets.
“Making spares for sure, but also communicating with my coach about what I noticed happening with lanes. Also, it helped me to stay focused and just kinda find my rhythm,” says the athlete.
Coppola has been bowling for three years now and is a returning letter winner. She has had great seasons the past few years, and she has hopes for an even better one.
The athlete has high standards and goals for herself this season.
“The goal is to beat my high score, hopefully the team goes to state and gets top 5 and keeps placing in tournaments,” says the bowler.
Earning the 5th place title in the Brush Arc Invitational is not as easy as it sounds. Invitational meets are full of many skilled athletes, so achieving a title like this one takes a lot of work.
Since Coppola has been on the team for the past few years, she knows what is best for her and what she personally needs to improve on.
“Definitely making my spares, not getting upset when I threw a bad shot, communicating with my team and my coaches, focusing on my shot and how I can do better the next shot, and not letting the other girls’ scores get to me,” says the letter winner.
