Over the past decade, video games have taken over the interest of many and have gained major popularity. With new developments in gaming, this has become an everyday activity for many young kids and teens. Playing video games with your friends and family wherever they are makes video games a hot topic in everyday life.

Video games should be considered a sport and a creative outlet for people who feel passionate about it.

Video games provide a creative and fun outlet to make new friends and get better at playing. According to Fun Teach, “The study found that during a competition, a gamer’s heart rate could reach 160-180 beats per minute, which is roughly the same as that of a marathon runner. Players would also exhibit levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, that was comparable to that of an F1 driver.” Playing video games isn’t just sitting around staring at a screen; it actually has many beneficial attributes.

Now, many will argue that gaming has no benefits and is just an excuse to sit around all day and stare at a screen. This really isn’t the case though, as gaming teaches many valuable lessons, such as team work. This is a skill that is important to have throughout life.

Making video games a sport can be extremely beneficial for people who feel more comfortable behind the screen. Inclusivity, making friends and being able to express yourself are all very important things that are parts of gaming.

E-sports have valuable life lessons that can be learned through something you love doing. Making this a real sport will demand mental and physical concentration that can only be learned through gaming.
