AI SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM MEDICAL PROCEDURES

AI technology has become a big part of today’s culture and has taken over the majority of jobs.

Although AI has made great advancements in our community, there should still be limits to what this technology can do.

AI has become a part of medicine. Many people think that this could be really good for medical procedures and with how advanced it is, AI bots are now taking over major surgery. Now, this might sound great because AI technology really cannot make an error unless coded incorrectly, but this still doesn’t make it safe. According to Medical Economics, “One of the biggest risks is the potential for data breaches. As health care providers create, receive, store and transmit large quantities of sensitive patient data, they become targets for cybercriminals.” This further proves the point of why we should not be using AI in the medical field.

AI has many pros, like its speed and ability to quickly review medical charts. Although these are great pros, the cons outweigh them. This new technology is great for other things that aren’t as extensive and that could possibly have major consequences. AI has code, and just like anything else with a code, you can easily be hacked. Imagine this happening during open heart surgery. If there’s a malfunction, this would be catastrophic and deadly.

As a community, we need to collectively make sure that AI doesn’t become the new norm of today and make sure we still have the human race that went to school for this to keep their jobs. Putting this in the medical field is not only dangerous, but takes away the jobs of hardworking people.

Yes, of course having new advancements is great, but AI is not a reliable source to give your life to.
