Struthers High School juniors and seniors celebrated the end of the year by having their Prom celebration on May 1st at Drake’s Landing.
The theme for this year’s Prom was Alice in Wonderland. This theme was chosen and brought to life by the junior class officers. This includes: Riley Guy, Amira West, Morgan Howard, Livia Waback, Giavanna Smiley, Haley Hoffman, Skylar Tusin and Jack West. This was overseen by advisors Mrs. Bradley and Mrs. Zappia.
Junior Class President Riley Guy has a lot to say about how much effort went into this production.
“We started very early, maybe December or January is when we picked the actual theme. Throughout the months before Prom, it was all about picking out decorations and finalizing the layout of everything. Also, picking out the crowns and the types of things we wanted to include at Prom itself,” says Guy.
The committee faced a lot of difficulty when it came to setting up for the promenade, whether it was the tape not holding or finding the energy to finish out the project. Regardless of these troubles, they executed their goals and were proud by the end.
There were many beautiful decorations from the Mad Hatter’s table to the checkered trail. To Guy, though, a few things really stuck out.
Guy says, “I think the card arch way was one of the things I was most excited about, and the mirrors with the Alice in Wonderland quotes.”
Not only was the Prom enjoyable for the committee, but it was also enjoyable for the rest of the students as well. The students really enjoyed the very fancy photo booth, as well as the cookie table.
Senior Maddie Carder appreciates the efforts put into the dance.
“I thought it was very magical and went very well with the theme. I thought it was so cute, and everything went together nice,” says Carder.
