Struthers High School Drama Club has started to prepare for their spring play at Struthers Middle School on March 27th and 28th.
Their play is called “12 Angry Jurors” and consists of 12 people deciding if a teenager who was accused of murder is innocent or guilty. The cast members auditioned for these roles on February 9th. They didn’t get to choose which role they were auditioning for, that was the director’s decision.
Delaney Painter, an actor in the Drama Club, finds the process exciting.
“I think it is going to be fun, we are a jury arguing over food so it is fun to act worked up over something so silly,” says the actor.
Practice for the play takes place from 3-4 pm after school every day. The actors have a little over a month to get the play ready before the performance. Painter is a second year actor and believes the play will be better than the winter play in its own way. She has the role of one of the jurors in the spring play.
She appreciates the differences between the projects the club has worked on this year.
“I think that the winter play was more entertaining, but I think the spring play will be more fun,” says the student.
She became a member of Drama Club due to her love of theatre. She joined the Drama Club as soon as it started back up when she was a freshman and has dedicated her time to it ever since. She believes that since starting back up it has definitely gotten more organized.
She enjoys acting and has fun doing it.
Painter says, “I became an actor because I love theatre and acting has always been fun to me.”
