SOCHA MOVES FORWARD

Peyton Socha is a junior at Struthers High School. She holds a 4.0 all while playing sports, hanging out with friends and family, along with working. Socha is a great student and one of the best tennis players we have; she is a part of the team that won the Ne8 the last 2-3 years in a row. She is in many clubs including; Interact, Medical Careers, Future Teachers also volunteering at the kids ministry.

Socha started playing tennis her freshman year of high school, she has always had mental aspects of the game but she has learned that tennis has taught her that there are more than just mental parts of this game all coming from one of her biggest role models, coach mcdivvit.

The junior has learned that tennis shows you more than just how to play a sport or just getting to letter in something you love.

“My coach Jake McDivitt, he has taught me so much within such a short period of time.”, also “It has taught me to have patience and there is always room for improvement.”, says the tennis player.

The athlete has learned that being a student athlete is difficult, socha has many test and homework assignments due throughout the week while she struggles to find time. She has found a way to help her keep her good grades and the ability to be a good student

The junior  pushes herself to be the best student athlete she can be

“Studying on bus rides, finding time before or after a match to do homework, and scheduling days ahead of time so I do not get overwhelmed  with work as well.”, says socha.

Socha started tennis with no prior experience; she pushed herself to continue even when she wanted to give up after not having the energy to learn something new; she believes that it comes easy if you push yourself at hard times.

The student wants people to know they should continue even when the times get hard and put your all into everything that comes your way, challenges, hard times, and even the good times at that.

“Do not give up. The first few practices are very difficult getting used to the techniques. But once you get the hang of it, it all comes to you very quickly.” says the junior athlete.
