Jacob Wortsell is a sophomore student athlete at Struthers High School. He is a proud member of the Wildcats football team.
Worstell only plays football, but he has been doing this sport for about 7 years now. He has been fully dedicated to this sport for the longest, and he wouldn’t want it any other way.
Not only playing football but also watching, it has inspired Jacob in many different ways to play this sport.
“I look up to Myles Garrett because he shows great leadership on the field and does a lot for charities,” says the athlete.
Worstell also tends to do many different things during the offseason to train for the upcoming season including working out with his trainer, working out by himself and going to the football field to work on his footwork. It is very important to stay active during the off season because it helps you get prepared for the upcoming challenges next season.
Although he has only played football, he also has another sport in mind he would play if football wasn’t his sport.
“I would probably play baseball because it is an interesting sport that has a lot of action,” says the sophomore.
Growing up watching football, the student athlete learned a handful of different skills and tactics to get better on and off the field: being a good teammate, having the ability to have good sportsmanship and being able to leave your emotions off the field is very important because it can help you not only grow as a person, but as an athlete as well.
Worstell not only looks up to professional athletes, he looks up to someone who is very close to him as well.
“Max Casillas is a good leader and leaves it all on the field,” says Wortsell.
