Layla Schobert
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself achieving my dreams, indulging in philosophy and bringing love and hope to the world one step at a time. There’s a guy who dances to music dressed in colorful lights on the bridge leading up to Campbell, Lowellville and Pennsylvania. I aspire to be like him; he seems so fun. Time is too precious to sacrifice to such materialistic ideals, so it’s little things as such that tend to make me smile.
If you could be guaranteed one thing in life besides money, what would you ask for and why?
A lifetime supply of bagel bites
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
Not many people know me at all. I blame myself constantly because I’m awkward and introverted. I practice spirituality and chakra; I like video games, and I plan to develop my own with my partner Damian Williams. I have 3 guinea pigs and a cat and my favorite activity is engaging in tomfoolery around the streets during Batman hours. My next activity will be hopping down the road dressed as the scrooge at 2:00 am. I was inspired by an instagram post (@presleykmayfield on Instagram if you’d like to see my inspiration.)
Out of all the years at Struthers High School, what is your most memorable memory?
I really can’t name just one, and I guess that’s what makes it so profound. This is just an era in my life, which will soon be over. So when the time comes, I’ll get to look back on every single memory. Not just one.
Do you think graduating is exciting or scary? Why?
It’s exciting. School really isn’t for me, and I’m hopeful to finally start my life. If you ask me a question, I’m going to give a broad answer and a lot of things about the infrastructure of the school just cannot be answered. Whether it’s judgement or lack of acceptance, it’s hard to deal with at all for people who just don’t fit into a certain category. I’m just being real and I’m speaking for those who feel the same. So, when I’m gone and out of here, I’ll be sure to add a little more joy and whimsy to the world to normalize being unique. I’ve always been weird, and I’m happy to be weird.
What do you plan on doing after you graduate high school?
I plan to find myself. Create meaning. When you’ve indulged in Existentialism for so long that purpose feels so hard to find. I despise the consumerist life because all I want is to find my purpose and live with an open mind. People try too hard to be nonchalant about everything and cool. I personally think it’s cool to express yourself and show who you are. I’m a true believer that if you’re negative and careless you will bring in toxic people. So I refuse to live my life being “nonchalant.”
What song(s), album(s), or artist(s) would describe your high school experience?
“The Deep End” by Crossfade or “Send The Pain Below” by Chevelle.
Who is your role model and why?
Beavis from “Beavis and Butthead.” He’s just so real. But in a professional situation, I’d say my mom for being there for me and putting the weight of the world on her shoulders because the first man in my life decided he had better things to do.
Trinityee Stephenson
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself living my best life out of Ohio with a nice job.
If you could be guaranteed one thing in life besides money, what would you ask for and why?
If I can be guaranteed one thing in life, it would be gas. It’s so expensive; if I could just get it for free forever that would be the best thing alive,
Out of all the years at Struthers High School, what is your most memorable memory?
This is my first year here, and so far my favorite memory is getting to become close with my friends again and meeting new people
Do you think graduating is exciting or scary? Why?
I think it’s some of both but more exciting because your entering a new chapter in your life.
What do you plan on doing after you graduate high school?
Make a lot of money
Who is your role model and why?
My role model is Katherine Johnson from the movie “Hidden Figures.” I watched this movie at school, and she made me see that you can be the odd one in the room. You can be so different from the people around you, and you should never stop yourself from doing your best to succeed. People will bring you down and not want to do your best anymore but still push yourself for a better future and outcome.
