Cadence Shorthouse is a junior at Struthers High School. She runs track and has been running for Struthers since her freshman year.
Shorthouse has been running track since her freshman year of high school. This will be her third year running for the school; she runs the 400 meter dash and distance.
Shorthouse is somewhat nervous for the upcoming season, but she is ready to give it her all.
“I am anxious, but I have been waiting for the track all year. At practice, I try my best to push myself and train as much as possible, hoping my times get better,” says Shorthouse.
The student has been looking forward to being a leader in track for some time now. She is excited and eager to help the younger classmen excel and do as good as they can.
Shorthouse is in disbelief that she is graduating next year but is excited to see what the future holds for her helping the underclassmen.
“It seems as though yesterday I was just a freshman. I’m just hoping to help the underclassmen’s experience in bringing a positive attitude and enjoyable energy,” says Shorthouse.
Shorthouse has always listened to her coach’s advice. She always does what’s best for herself and for the benefit of the team.
The runner will always cherish and take the advice from coaches in the long run for anything that comes her way in life that she can apply it too.
“My best device I learned is to not worry about racing the other runners, but racing to the clock instead,” says Shorthouse.
