The Youngstown State Penguins have introduced three new players to their team: Elijah Guillroy, Siem Uijtendaal and Nico Galette. Siem Uijtendaal transferred from Canisius University.
Uijtendaal was a four-year letterwinner at Canisius, who averaged 13.3 points per game in the 2023-24 season.
The Penguins had 11 new players last season, seven transfers and four recruits.
The transfer portal is huge in college sports at this time of year.
“How important was it to be quick in this decision in order to keep the guys you had and get an early start. I really credit Ron and our board for going to work for me,” says Coach Faulkner.
Galette transferred from Sacred Heart; he averaged 15.4 points per game in the 2022-23 season and was 1st-Team All NEC.
Faulkner says that team bonding builds relationships and makes guys want to stay.
“I think that speaks to the relationships that we have and build with our guys,” says Faulkner.
Elijah Guillory from Moon Area High School averaged 21.1 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game and 1.7 steals per game.
Coach has been bringing in some new coaches to help him out.
“My brother Evan will be joining us as an assistant coach; Mark Richmond who’s been here before will be joining us as an assistant coach,” says Faulkner.
