“We have a responsibility to protect and preserve the fragile beauty of our world.”

By far, “Project Hail Mary” is one of the most incredible and awe inspiring books that was recently released within the last few years. Author Andy Weir presents a beautiful interstellar journey forged in friendship, hope and the indomitable human spirit.

What happens when an outside threat is threatening Earth? Solving a planetary level threat is no easy task, and requires the effort of all of humanity to make a plan. However, the responsibility of all of humanity falls into the hands of one man.

Many sacrifices are required to stop such a large level threat: people, time, resources. Everything is null in the face of catastrophe. The story shows readers how the human race will contend with impending doom and how morality is hardly even questioned when trying to save the masses.

Dr. Ryland Grace, the man himself, is tasked with saving the planet. The author goes into masterful detail on how that would affect a person and how the stress and terror of such a large task is harmful to the human psyche. And how, despite everything, he maintains his integrity and makes the ultimate decisions that decide how the human race will continue on. He never loses sense of who he is.

The book is heavily based in SciFi and features real life science and astrophysics. If the readers prefer a more realistic and scientifically fascinating look into the world, “Project Hail Mary” will never disappoint. With great characterization and real life science, the book can be enjoyed by many with different tastes.

Others may be familiar with Andy Weir’s other work, “The Martian.” The incredible story of Mark Watney’s grueling time on Mars after being abandoned. This novel was so successful, it now has a beloved film. “Project Hail Mary” is no different and is arguably higher quality.

The success of the novel paved the way for an opportunity that will be arriving very soon in theaters. The novel is in the process of receiving a film adaptation, projected to arrive in theaters at the end of 2024. Ryan Gosling will be staring at the main character, Ryland Grace.

The sheer power of the human spirit is present throughout the whole novel. The idea of the story sounds depressing, except it is the complete opposite. The book is full of hope and curiosity present in the universe. Weir shows us that, even in the most bleak of situations, humanity will prevail. Ryland Grace inspires hope and passion in his mission to save the planet. The journey is long and arduous, and offers all kinds of challenges. On the bright side, he is not alone.

She has dove in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and other more tropical areas. Currently, she has been on 16 dives and has gone down to 70 feet. Her interest in English in general is what charmed Julie to sign up for Journalism. The class offers the chance to write articles for the school newspaper, with freedom to express opinions or commentate on interesting topics of the author’s own choosing. Journalism provides a real-life experience she can carry with her in the next step into maturity. She is enjoying the class and opportunities it offers to her, and believes that it will only continue to improve throughout the year.
