Na’jier Howard is a senior at Struthers High School. He was the quarterback during the 2023-2024 football season.
Howard played basketball growing up and was always focused on that sport. He had a lot of passion for basketball and knew that’s what he wanted to do when he got older, but eventually fell in love with football.
He changed his mind in high school.
“I grew up wanting to play basketball, I didn’t change my mind until high school when I learned to throw football,” says the football player.
As the player fell in love with the sport in high school, he really had to stay prepared and work on himself for high school level as well as college level. Howard had stayed determined and confident throughout his years in high school to get to the college level he wanted to be at.
The football player works all the time to better himself.
“I took every opportunity I had when I stepped on the football field and built a habit of a strong character for myself, teammates and coaches,” says the student athlete.
The coaches at Siena Heights University helped Howard by telling him what he needed to work on in order to be the best he could be. They gave him good feedback and helped him in the best way possible.
The coaches made him feel great about his career.
“They told me I’d be throwing the ball a lot more and have more say in playcalls and things like that. They always made me feel like I can always be better than I already am,” says Howard.
