Mr. Dailey is a social studies teacher and LINK coordinator at Struthers High School. He has been teaching for 18 years: one year in Youngstown and the rest at SHS..
As a teacher, Dailey interacts with students and provides them with opportunities to learn and develop skills, such as the understatement of American History as well as Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics.
In interaction with his students, Dailey views his students in a positive manner.
“In many ways, my students are my colleagues and co-workers. I spend more time with high school students than adults, so they are my teammates working towards common goals,” says Dailey.
The conversations and discussions that he has with students about the critical points in history and how the government operates is Dailey’s favorite part of his career.
Dailey has a strong view of the city of Struthers and the conditions within the city.
“I enjoy seeing the pride and ownership that many families have of this community. Noty only do I see that within the adult community, but many students have that sense of pride in Struthers and are doing great things to serve their community,” says Dailey.
Dailey graduated from Boardman High School and was awarded a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree from Youngstown State University.
The main component to Dailey’s interest in history is quite expressive and interesting to recognize as Dailey extended on his interests.
“I enjoy history subjects because there are stories of inspiration, resilience and leaders of example. I enjoy government subjects because we get to explore current events and discuss possible solutions to challenges of our time,” says Dailey.
Dailey endorsed his history interests into teaching about African American History, Economics, Psychology and American History.
Apart from teaching, Dailey has other interests in other extracurricular activities, like clubs and being a participant in the LINK program.
Dailey expresses his key role in these extracurricular activities.
“I currently advise the LINK program and help organize a casual Chess Club. I enjoy the positive interactions and experiences with the students who are involved,” says the teacher.
Dailey’s interests and devotions could be operated in different places and different fields of knowledge.
While Dailey values teaching, he also has other passions.
“I would be a Park Ranger if I wasn’t a teacher. I enjoy being outdoors and being in nature environments. Some of my favorite hobbies include hiking and camping; in which, I would never plan to not finish my teaching career at Struthers High School,” says Dailey.
