In “Trolls Band Together,” Poppy rediscovers her love for the boy group “BroZone” after finding out her boyfriend’s brothers were the group members.
Poppy, queen of the pop music trolls, discovers that her boyfriend, Branch, and his four brothers were all a part of a group called “BroZone.” This excites Poppy since they were her favorite boy band growing up. Branch’s younger brother, Floyd, is taken by ex pop stars Velvet and Veneer of Mount Rageous. Branch and Poppy go on a sentimental journey in order to repute the brother and rescue Floyd. When Poppy and Branch find Floyd, they find out through their entire duration of searching that Floyd’s talent and magic has been slowly drained out of him. Veneer confesses to both he and Velvet’s crimes to all of their heavily influenced fans and is imprisoned. All of Branch’s family members reunite with each other.
“BroZone’s Back” is a song that was sung by all of the brothers and Poppy during their search for Floyd. This song is a remix of several different songs stemming from the 80’s to the early 2000’s. The performance had many different vibrant colors while the trolls were singing the songs for the 80’s, which fits into the aesthetic perfectly. There were many vintage references; for example, the trolls are shown pixelated on a GameBoy toy once they start to sing the early 2000’s songs. This also goes perfectly with the song since the GameBoy was very popular in previous decades.
“Better Place” is a song written by the boy band NSYNC. It was sung by Branch and his other brothers to break the spell made by Veneer and Velvet to encase all of the musical tale and power Floyd has. The vocals in this song were very strong with there being multiple melodies. In the song, Branch and Floyd harmonize together, and Floyd is finally freed from Velvet and Veneer’s hands.
This movie deserves a 9 out of 10 because of its vocal performance and showing the importance of family and true friendship.
