Vivian Marker is a freshman at Struthers High School. She is a multi-sport athlete, while also keeping up with her schoolwork and being a role model student. She plays basketball, softball, volleyball and also runs track.
The basketball team has recently started off their season. The new season has welcomed a lot of new competition to the court. Marker is a shooting guard on the JV and varsity teams.
She is looking forward to next season when she gets reunited with her younger teammates. She’s very excited to get to teach the younger group and welcome them the same way she was welcomed.
“I’m excited to see the eighth graders again and teach them. I’m looking forward to working my hardest and being a good role model for the incoming freshmen,” says Marker.
She takes most of her inspiration from Paige Buckers on the UCONN girls’ basketball team. She looks up to her helpful nature and her intelligence on the court.
Marker started playing in fourth grade and has been playing for the past five years. She didn’t choose to play basketball, but she’s glad she started.
“My parents pushed me into basketball and I’ve continued to play since then,” says Marker.
The young athlete finds it fairly easy to keep up with her school work because of how long she’s had to do so.
“Basketball doesn’t interfere with my grades. Since I’ve been playing for so long, it’s become second nature to me,” says Marker.
