Joe Flacco lead the Browns to a playoff bearth.

The Cleveland Browns played both QB Joe Flacco and QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson instead of starting one. They played on Sunday, December 10, in Cleveland against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The team couldn’t decide which QB to start, so they decided to start with Flacco, but rotate Thompson-Robinson in as well to throw the defense off.

The Browns signed free agent Flacco 2 weeks prior to the game against Jacksonville. All week in practice, it was a battle of who the starter was coming into the game, but the team just couldn’t make the decision. Both quarterbacks played very well in practice, but had two different playing types. Thompson-Robinson is more of a mobility QB, while Flacco is more of a deep bomb threat.

The team decided to start with Flacco, but that didn’t mean DTR was the back up.

“You don’t have to. That’s the best way to put it,” says head coach Kevin Stefanski.

With the QB situation, the Jaguars would have to prepare for both quarterbacks and be ready to see a mix of the 2 players. The Jaguars’s QB, Trevor Lawrence, was coming off of a highly sprained ankle injury and was questionable to play.

The Jaguars have prepared all week, no matter what the QB situation was for them.

“I’m just going to prepare as if I’m going to play just like I do each and every other week. Then if the opportunity comes, I’ll be in there ready to go. If it doesn’t, I won’t bat an eye about it. I want him to be healthy.” says Jaguars backup QB, C.J. Beathard.

Laurance did start but was not 100% going into the game. The Browns had the lead the whole game and were dominating both sides. Thompson-Robinson would come into the game on big 3rd down plays and use the QB sneak to run for the first. Flacco was throwing the ball down the field all game.

The Browns took the win 31-27 and moved to the 5th seed in the AFC playoffs at (8-5).

“He’s one of us. And as long as he continues what he’s doing, he’s going to stay one of us,” says defensive end Myles Garrett on QB Flacco.
