“The Perks of Being a Wallflower” is a coming of age film. Based on Stephen Chbosky’s novel, the movie takes viewers on a journey through the hectic world of young adults, leaving many with a sense of nostalgia and a reviving feeling.
The main character, Charlie (Logan Lerman), is portrayed as a socially awkward freshman navigating the quirks of high school and life. While Charlie struggles with his PTSD, he finds two friends, Patrick (Ezra Miller) and Sam (Emma Watson). They introduce him to a world of experiences.
The film has a great arrangement of iconic songs to correlate with specific scenes. “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac relates to the characters of the book. The lyrics align with the coming-of-age theme of the book. The song makes the iconic scene of Charlie and his friends driving through the Fort Pitt Tunnel in Pittsburgh, PA such an euphoric moment in the movie.
