Is it true that teens’ mental health gets worse from using social media apps and their phones?

Teens’ mental states go down while using social media. Cell phones can cause teens into depression.

Nowadays, teens are always using social media and are on their phones. We see everything and anything we want on our phones. Teens constantly have them in our hands and could be unconsciously comparing themselves to things on the internet. People are easily influenced by stuff and we can see what other people have and the stuff we don’t. Even if you don’t realize it everyday, you can easily compare yourself.

Studies show that teens can develop depression and other mental illnesses like anxiety just from being on their phones. Teens can be creative, share content and entertain themselves on social media and just their phones period. Most teens are dealing with depression or depression symptoms. Are phones causing more harm than good? It doesn’t mean we have to get rid of them, but sometimes taking a break can help your mental state.

You may think your phone isn’t taking a toll on you or that you’re fine. You might notice that when you take a break, you feel much better. A lot of people would feel a lot better not comparing and seeing things on their phone everyday. Even just seeing things that remind you of bad things that happened makes it worse.

Overall, social media takes a toll on teens’ mental states. It can give teens symptoms of anxiety and depression. So, maybe just take that break to help yourself.
