Women connect more on an emotional level. They share their thoughts, feelings, and in general they have more emotional support. While on the other hand, men tend to keep things from their friends, meaning that they don’t normally share personal thoughts and emotions.

It is scientifically proven that women have more intense friendships than men.

Female friendships are more intense because they share a certain intimacy that male friendships don’t. Women have very strong feelings that usually help them get closer to one another. The center of these friendships focuses on empathy and compassion toward the other person’s needs. Male friendships generally rely on a give-and-take type of relationship. The friendships that women develop come close to relationships they have with their blood relatives. According to studies, “Women’s friendships are more intense and exclusive than those of men. The intimacy of female friendship is surprising because, to avoid inbreeding, women typically left their natal group to live with strangers. The friendships women develop with one another mimic the close “communal” relations normally found between blood relatives, with a strong focus on empathy and responsiveness to others’ needs.”

Many believe that men have more intense friendships because they feel more understood by male friends and assume that they would be more loyal and comfortable with one another. Men usually only have more casual friendships, which is why they feel easily understood and comfortable. They are not seeing the deep emotions that go into friendships.

Women and men have very different friendships because of how in tune women are with their emotions, compared to men who have difficulty expressing themselves. To change this issue, we could stop training men to not show their emotions. Men should learn to get more comfortable with sharing their emotions because if they were able to share their emotions with their friends, they could build deeper connections which leads to more intense friendships.

Women have more intense friendships, and they are able to connect on deeper levels because they express their emotions to one another. They are able to build connections based on the sympathy and compassion they hold and express toward one another. Men keep their emotions hidden and don’t express the same emotions towards their friends.
