“The Hate You Give” is about a family that’s in a poor neighborhood, and the girl named Starr in the family goes to a suburban prep school.

The movie is basically about the girl Starr. She was the main character in the movie who feels some way about how cops treat her kind. Starr stands up for her people and feels some way when the cops took her best friend, Kahlil’s life. Starr recorded when the cop pulled her, and Kahlil over and got the cop killing him. In the ending of the movie, Starr made the whole neighborhood change because of how strong she is.

One good aspect about the movie is that people started sticking up for each other. People like that because they didn’t let anyone push over them anymore and did what they had to do. People also like how Star stood up for her dad when the police officer tried to treat him wrong for no reason and how they fought back for their respect.

One downfall is that, at first, everyone let one person scare them in the neighborhood. Viewers didn’t like that because they felt like everyone else was on the same page. They questioned why they’d be scared of one person. People also didn’t like the way that society uses stereotypes in the movie or how they made their kind look bad. They also didn’t like that the movie made it look like they deserved to get treated badly.

“The Hate You Give” teaches you that all members of humanity should be treated equally, regardless of our wrongful perceptions of others. The rating of this movie is a 10/10 for the acting of emotions, and it is very interesting to watch.
