When listening to the radio, many people would hear the top hits of the time or very famous singers. There is one singer in particular that skyrocketed onto the list of the top hits. That singer is Olivia Rodrigo.

Rodrigo has created an album of songs that flew onto the top hits of pop. The album made its release on September 8, 2023. One of the songs that went to the top 10 list is “Vampire.” “Bad idea, right?” was another hit but made it on the top 40 hits of pop music. Regardless, a good handful of songs went on the list of top hits.

The song choice features some pop music that is rather settled or a little rocky. Not only are the songs a more settled pop, but the beats of the songs correspond to the emotion the song presents. Many of the songs in the album feature feelings of hurt or feelings of carelessness. Not only that, but the songs in the album are also relatable as well. Many people can relate to them by the emotion that is tied to the songs along with the message in the song. Songs like “Vampire,” “love is embarrassing,” “Get him back,” “Ballad of a homeschooled girl” and “the grudge” show feelings of hurt and carelessness. With all these songs, the overall message is built stronger.

Many of the songs feature messages that convey some kind of break up, love issues or societal differences. Songs like “Vampire,” “Bad idea, right?,” “Lacy,” “Get him back!” and “Logical” feature love issues among the lyrics. Songs like “All-American” feature societal differences in the lyrics. All these songs make up the overall emotion of the “GUTS” album. Similarly to the emotion, the lyrics are highly relatable to some, mostly with the struggles of love and how society views an individual. The lyrics of these songs produce the emotion needed to express the mood of the album.

This album is recommended to all who need a song to relate to. This is a great album and has a great sense of expression. It is rated a 4.5/5.
