Selena Quintanilla was an American-Mexican singer and songwriter. She began her singing career in Lake Jackson, Texas in 1971, so she could become the first latin girl singer.
“Selena” is a movie that was released on March 21, 1997, and was about a little girl who didn’t have very much money, but lived in a household full of music and responsibilities. Her father started a family restaurant, and she began to sing. Her father saw her potential to turn into a lead singer. She began to travel around the world, and others saw how different her voice was and how different she was as an individual.
She showed nothing but love to her family and her fans. Wherever she was, Selena had a smile on her face, lighting up the whole room with pure joy. She was able to deliver that throughout all of the music she created. She then transitioned into singing her first English song called, “I Could Fall In Love,” dedicating the song to her husband, Chris Perez.
Quintanilla made six studio albums, three live albums and twenty complete albums. She was the first tejano artist to win the best Mexican American album. She won two grammy awards from four different nominations. After Quintanilla passed away on March 31, 1995, she was still remembered as one of the best musicians and was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
This movie deserves a ten out of ten because of the detail shown and the way she spoke. It is like you are watching the true Selena Quintanilla.
