“Spaceman” is a sci-fi/adventure movie starring Adam Sandler who plays Jakub. Six months into a solitary research mission, he realizes that the marriage he left might not be waiting for him when he gets back. He is helped by a mysterious creature (Hanus), and they work together to fix what’s going on.
This film follows Jakub (Adam Sandler), a Czech astronaut investigating the Chopra Cloud, an area of space near Jupiter. He is on a solo mission for a while and is meant to answer some of humanity’s most pressing questions about the universe. While up there he finds (Paul Dano) in the form of a huge spider-like alien who helps him find his desperate ways through his marriage. Jakub sees his marriage falling apart with Lenka (Carey Mulligan) and will do anything to keep it together. Jakub goes along with the spider learning more about the universe and gets help on the cracks in his marriage.
Even though “Spaceman” has a handful of scenes that make for a meaningful study of the alien spider and the universe, it misses where Jakub and Lenka marriage comes in. The movie emerges their issues earlier and more in memoires than physical affection. They have a foundation of marriage but are unable to find emotional significance in each other. They feel alone and need each other but with him doing his job it just can’t work out.
The film also sets up a nice reflection of Jakub and all his depressing moments. It looks into more of the loneliness and separation and how he is alone. The way he looks because he isn’t eating and drinking enough. He could be losing it and going crazy because he is talking to an ancient universe spider. It also goes into a little on how Jakub, and his father always didn’t have the best relationship.
The audience of this movie really liked the romance and the marriage between Jakub and Lenka. This shows how love can affect us as humans. Its rating is 8/10.
