Geoffrey Malcomson works in the science department at Struthers High School. Midterms are making their way to the school at the end of the second nine weeks.
Midterms are exams for each student that mark the halfway point in the school year. A test is given for each class at the high school.
Malcomson has quite some experience with these tests, so he knows the tips and tricks that help students to succeed.
“Study! Look at old tests and quizzes. A lot of teachers will reuse questions,” says the teacher.
The high school has a voucher policy which awards students for their hard work and dedication. Each student is given three vouchers per semester. Every student’s behavior and attendance affects how many vouchers you are able to keep and use for certain midterms and finals.
Malcomson is knowledgeable with the policy at Struthers.
“Vouchers are a way to reward students for good attendance and behavior by allowing them to skip some exams,” says Malcomson.
Testing days can be dreadful for both students and teachers. Everybody at the school has their own significant role during the midterm period.
Despite the long days, the teacher has plenty of advice that he found gets him through.
“Teachers often dread these tests as much as the students, since the grading can take some time. Coffee helps,” says the science teacher.
