Homelessness has hit an all time high in America.
Homelessness is a problem.
Endhomelessness.org says, “Homelessness increased 18 percent, from 653,104 people during the 2023 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count to 771,480 people during the 2024 PIT.” This illustrates the huge spike in homelessness. As housing prices go up, unemployment is going up as well. Everything is getting more expensive causing this all-time rise in homelessness.
Some people say the choices they make lead to their homelessness, but that’s not the whole story. That makes it seem like it’s an individual problem and not a systematic one. Poverty and rising prices are a huge problem that has made the homeless rate so huge, and once you become homeless it is so hard to get out.
What needs to change is more support for homeless people. We need to set up a bridge for homeless people to get back into normal life like where they go get sober, get a job lined up and then get monitored housing assistance.
Homelessness is a huge problem today in America that seems to only be getting worse as time goes on. People seem to get stuck in that hole once they get here and rarely do they get a hand to get out of that hole.
