Students skip school every day; skipping can result in many punishments and penalties that can worsen student knowledge and skill.
If students skip school for no reason, it makes it harder for them to succeed in classes. Just one day off can drop your grades causing stress and making it harder to do better later.
According to Realcleareducation.com, “Chronic truancy can rob children of their best futures. Younger students who habitually miss school are less likely to read at grade level by third grade – which makes them four times as likely not to graduate from high school. That puts them at higher risk of experiencing poverty, suffering from poor health, and engaging in criminal activity.” This shows that at any age, if students skip classes, it results in many setbacks within the future. School shows students how to do many important things that they need later in life; however, if a student doesn’t get this needed knowledge then aspects of their life will continue to worsen. Students see skipping school as an escape from responsibilities, but responsibilities don’t disappear.
Others may say that what students learn in school isn’t important or needed. While it’s true that students may not need everything they learn in school, grades and GPA’s mean so much in the future and how students will live.
In order for students to attend school, students need to understand the importance of school and what happens if you don’t attend. However, most students don’t attend school because of stress and anxiety, making schools a more welcoming place would help with attendance.
School shouldn’t be a place that students fear; it should be called a second home. Not being able to erase the fear of school creates future problems.
