Not only do kids that participate in sports get health benefits, but they also have proven benefits in school.
Sports positively affect teens’ grades.
Sports set students up for future success and help students develop determination and hard work because to have success in a sport, hard work is needed and that translates to school. Nearly 2,800 children were included in the study. Usnews.com says, “The research team looked at the sort of sports and physical activity that kids were involved in at age 12, and compared that to their later academic achievement. Girls who participated in organized sports had 8% higher grades overall, and those involved in artistic sports had nearly 23% higher grades, results show.” This shows that on average, people involved in sports have higher grades. This is because with sports you have to juggle free time, school and sports which leads to better time management as time goes on. Also, problem solving is needed because things aren’t always perfect in sports, so you have to learn how to solve them as they pop up and that helps with school. Sports can also give kids a break from school which helps them not get burnt out.
You can say this overworks kids and makes it harder to focus on school, but it prepares kids for the future because as an adult there are a lot of things you have to manage on your own. Not to mention all the good habits and skills it develops. Yes, there has to be a balance between school and sports, but sports are a huge benefit to teens in so many ways.
A common misconception is that sports negatively affect grades and are bad for students. However, research has shown that on average, these students have better test scores, which has shown positive results and a higher college acceptance rate.
All of these skills set you up for future success and help develop necessary skills and traits for future success.
