Does making more money really make you more happy?
Making more doesn’t mean you will be happier.
If you hate your job, it can cause you a lot of stress because you will hate waking up and going to it. Not to mention, if you are already unhappy, more money won’t make you happier. Also, if all you are looking for is money, you won’t find happiness because money itself won’t make you happy. It’s the people and the things you do that will make you happy. Not to mention–when you have kids–you still have things to worry about, even if you make more money. Marcus Lemonis states, “Research conducted by Robert Kenny, EdD. found wealthy people he interviewed admitted they loved having a lot of money and understand they are fortunate, but sometimes having a lot of money means isolation, loss of friendships to get you through difficult times and struggling with the same parenting issues as everyone else.”
If you make more money then you would probably be less stressed out about bills, and you would be able to do more things that would make you happy. But waking up and being excited to go to work is one of the best things you can have because it won’t feel like a job–it will make you feel like you are just going to do something you love.
What needs to change is the expectation that rich people are automatically happy. Happiness does not lie in how much money you make, but it lies in the things you do. It is very scary to wonder if your friends are just friends with you for money or friends with you because they truly enjoy being around you.
Money will make things easier, but it will not make you happy. Doing the things and being with the people you love is what makes you truly happy.
