Brianna Rippee is a junior at Struthers High School. She is a part of the track team and runs 100m and 300m hurdles.
Track is a sport that plays a mental game on your mind. Having the confidence to run takes a lot, especially comparing yourself to other runners.
Athletes always compare themselves to other athletes, but everyone is their own person.
“My biggest challenge that I face in track is myself and comparing myself to other runners that have been running track much longer than me. I lack confidence in myself,” says Rippee.
Athletes have a love-hate relationship with track, you can love running or hate it. You have to find a passion for the sport you love.
Learning a new sport is always fun, but it can be a challenge.
“I used to play basketball when I was younger, but lost my passion for the sport, and I already knew that I liked running. I decided that when I got to high school, I was going to join the track team,” says the runner.
As the next season approaches, the upcoming juniors will gain their leadership. They will show the underclassmen how to be.
The junior class is excited to become the leaders on the track team.
“I’m looking forward to being a leader and improving my times from the years prior,” says the athlete.
