“The Conjuring” brings a new view on the superstition of the afterlife and the supernatural.
“The Conjuring 2” runs off of the timeline of “Annabelle,” “The Nun” and “The Conjuring.” If you were to watch the movies in the order of storyline, “The Nun” would be after the original “Annabelle” from 2014 and before “Annabelle Creation” from 2017, and “The Conjuring 2” from 2016. This movie contains 2 hours and 14 minutes of horror and build up. A lot of this movie is based on “The Nun,” considering the Nun spirit is the main horror focus that Ed and Lorraine have to face. There is also a lot of fear from Lorraine that Ed will die because of her visions, so the whole movie is just having you off your seat.
This movie focuses on a true story of a low-income family that gets tormented by a spirit that mostly targets the youngest daughter. At first, no one believed her, until they all started witnessing these things that would happen in their house. Ed and Lorraine end up having to fight this spirit in the fear that Ed might die trying to save this little girl.
The effects of this movie add a lot to what happens, such as things moving on their own, the scary monster-type spirits and the loud noises and lights. It all adds to the scary theme and really makes this movie what it is. This obviously adds to the jumpscares you will see in this movie as well because the people who made it have pretty much mastered their way of scaring fans with the jumpscares they decided to make using numerous effects.
This movie is very significant to the other series it plays along with, so it is recommended that you watch the other movies before this so you have a better understanding of what’s happening. It is rated an 8/10.
