Struthers High School social studies teacher Mr. Bruno has been teaching for 33 years; 15 years of his teaching experience were devoted to Southern Florida High School and Lely High School in Maples, Florida. The rest has been devoted to Struthers High School.
He teaches Law Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Government, AP Psychology and American History.
Bruno addresses his location backgrounds for where he obtained this knowledge.
“I went to Struthers High School and then Youngstown State University for college,” says Bruno.
Bruno prefers the lessons and knowledge he teaches.
“I’ve always enjoyed these subjects and because they are electives, students enjoy being in there and it’s extremely rewarding. These are subjects that you can talk about almost anything. As a teacher, I’m not restricted on what we can learn and research,” says Bruno.
Bruno holds certain viewpoints for his students.
Bruno views his students kindly.
“I always looked at my students through their lens. In other words, I’ve tried to remember how I was in school and how the teenage mind operates,” says Bruno.
Bruno declares the “lens” of students who understand the lesson or topic being observed to be a fascinating moment when relating to students into his professions. The examination of how to engage teenage students to understand through “lightbulb moments” is a relief and may be used for future practices in helping students succeed academically. What’s just as fascinating to Bruno is allowing some of his practices and knowledge to be implemented to future generations, especially if they feel entertained to the subject makes Bruno feel rewarded.
Considering his positive views on his professions and students, it may be reasonable to see if they influenced a part or relation to his favorite parts of teaching.
Bruno has favorite and least favorite parts about teaching.
“My favorite part of teaching is when summer arrives and we’re off! Also, working with excellent students and colleagues whom I can laugh and socialize with. It’s really just if anything was negative, like grading work and assignments can be really time consuming. When I first started teaching, this was sometimes an inconvenience as it can be difficult organizing and preparing multiple classes; fortunately, I’ve got it all figured out now, so it’s not a common occurrence anymore,” says Bruno.
Bruno likes engaging with excellent students and having to socialize with them. He prefers to be less stressed in his line of work with grading papers. This is probably the result of time management issues.
Bruno gained valuable lessons while working in Florida and Ohio.
The teacher has a positive attitude towards the city of Struthers.
“My colleagues are excellent to work with and the students have been cooperative and respectful over the years. It’s a real down-to-earth atmosphere,” says Bruno.
Bruno believes that Struthers can be a nice destination for modern interaction, mostly for cooperative and respectful means.
Bruno persuades these communities to past experiences and modern ideas he’d have while teaching in Naples, Florida. Moreover, he speaks about club preparations and coaching for athletic teams.
“I’ve coached the mock trial team at my school in Florida for eight years and brought the team to Struthers in which we competed for 12 years. The trial team consisted of top level students who were academically strong and extremely confident. But, for the coaching part, I don’t coach any sports teams; however, I used to be an assistant varsity baseball coach when I taught in Florida,” says Bruno.
Bruno had continued the Mock Trial Team and he certainly viewed them to be academic achievers. He prefers extreme confidence in competing against other teams as it encourages their competition and achieving as a successful team.
If Bruno had not pursued a career in teaching, he may have taken a different path.
Bruno appoints his “Plan B” actions if he was not able to become a teacher.
“If I wasn’t a teacher, I would want to be a singer in a heavy metal band. Preferably Slipknot or Disturbed. Debauchery is the only way to live,” says Bruno.
Bruno implements an answer to a question asking about his motives for if he were to be given a free opportunity to teach at larger schools.
“Only if they offered me beaucoup dollars and I can teach whatever I want,” says Bruno.
Overall, this may conclude Bruno’s loyalty throughout all experiences he went through in Struthers High School, especially accounting the communities and their cooperation.
