“Talk To Me” is a horror film about a hand statue. If you do this given ritual, you can be taken over by a spirit. But, you can only let it happen for a certain amount of time. This movie is completely different from most horror movies you would typically watch.
“Talk To Me” is a 1 hour and 35 minute long horror film that was released on July 28th, 2023. It has a l0t of twists and turns in it, but the plot of the younger brother Riley getting possessed and origin of the story is the best part of this movie. There were some lesser-known actors in this movie that acted very well playing as the main characters: Sophia Wilde, Alexandra Jensen and Joe Bird.
The movie starts out showing us a dude going crazy after using the hand statue. Then, the film moves onto showing the main characters of the movie: Riley, who is Mia’s best friend, Jade’s little brother, and Mia. Mia’s mother recently passed, so she is kind of always on edge. People that Mia and Jade know have been posting these videos of people doing the ritual with the hand from parties that look edited and they decide they want to check it out. When they get there, Mia ends up volunteering to do the ritual. In order to do the ritual, you must light a candle to open the door, hold the hand, and say, “Talk to me.” Then you have to say, “I let you in,” and get possessed by a spirit, but they only like to let people stay that way for 90 seconds.
Later on in the movie, they decide to host a get together at Jade’s house so her boyfriend can try the hand. It doesn’t go well and when Jade’s boyfriend gets upset, they go talk. Riley decided to beg to do the ritual and see what it’s like, but they only want to let him go under for 60 seconds. When Riley goes under, the spirit is Mia’s mom and she makes him stay under for longer. Riley starts going crazy and hurting himself by banging his head on things and for the rest of the movie he is just in pain. Mia has been under this spell of the ritual and thinks that she has to end Riley’s suffering, but that doesn’t happen. Jade stops her and the movie ends with Mia seeing a light and the hand statue, now she is one of the spirits that people will see when they do this ritual.
Overall, “Talk To Me” is a good horror movie. It is rated for teens and young adults because of its jumpscares, gore and storyline. This film is rated 8/10.
