Dom Liptak is a junior at Struthers High School. He is a student athlete that plays football and golf during the fall.

Junior year is a very important year in high school sports. It’s when you are the leader of the team, and normally start getting good minutes on the field. Liptak has surely stepped up and shown what he can do. He has grown and learned from mistakes every snap.

Liptak has grown past the mistakes he’s made in previous games.

“Personally, I have had some good games and some bad games, but because of that I learn from my mistakes and try to limit them for the future. As a team, we’ve been pretty successful, but we’ve had some very winnable games that we lost in the final moment,” says Liptak.

Having one more year is a big motivation for Liptak to get better on the field and in the weight room. Being a senior is a lot of responsibility, seniors are supposed to set high expectations for the underclassmen and be a good person to look up to not only in the lock room, but in school also.

He wants the team to improve as much as they can in the off season, so next year they’ll be unstoppable.

“The more that not just I lift, but the team does as well, the stronger we will be for next season. I also want to encourage others around the school to join football, especially if they are on the edge about it, which is part of building an inviting and fun locker room environment,” says Liptak.

At this point in the season, Liptak just wants to keep going and always look to the next week. The Struthers football team has a good shot in the playoffs and need to keep on pushing to see how far they can get.

The seniors are a big motivation this late in the season.

“I stay motivated knowing that at this point, each game could be the last for our seniors, and that I should give it my all to keep the season going,” says Liptak.
