John Bayuk is a history teacher and football coach at Struthers High School.
Bayuk has been teaching for 10 years and has been coaching for 16 total years.
Coach Bayuk believes the best part of his job is seeing his players learn from his teachings.
“The best part about coaching is watching your players believe in the culture that you are trying to grow and maintain in your program. There are countless life lessons you can learn from playing football,” says Bayuk.
Bayuk grew up in Hubbard, Ohio and attended Hubbard High School, Home of the Eagles.
Coach Bayuk is very pleased with the 2023 football season for the Wildcats. The team achieved many goals they had set, like gaining a home playoff game.
“We competed for an NE8 championship and secured a home playoff game which were all goals of the season. We lost a few close ones, but we fought to the end in all of them,” says Bayuk.
Bayuk has always wanted to be a football coach since his father was one. He has grown up around football and loved it ever since.
The coach believes the team’s best game was the Struthers vs. Girard game. The team had a great comeback and they played strongly.
“The Girard game is a game that stands out because of the way we had to fight back into the game. We were able to come back from a 14-point deficit and win the game against a very good football team,” says Bayuk.
