Marissa Metzka is a junior at Struthers High School who moved to Florida over the summer but decided to return to finish her high school years here.

Over the summer, Metzka moved to Jacksonville, Florida after being at Struthers City Schools since kindergarten.

Metzka was trying something new and hoping for more opportunities down in Florida.

“I wanted to get a new experience and try for a better opportunity in volleyball,” says Metzka.

A lot of things were different in Florida for Metzka. Adjusting to a whole new environment isn’t always very easy. This was a big change for anyone to go through.

Metzka missed a lot of the people she had back at home.

“I wanted to come back because I missed my friends and family and didn’t like how big my school was. It was very overwhelming,” says Metzka.

One of the most important things in Metzka’s life is her volleyball career. This is another huge reason why she wanted to come back.

Volleyball and her friends mean a lot to her.

“I’m most excited to play my senior volleyball season with some of my best friends,” says Metzka.
