The college baseball voting and standings came out on April 26 for eight teams to make it into playoffs and two teams to make it to Omaha to be champions.
Each team has to try and win out the rest of their regular season games to get themselves a better seed and have an overhand in playoffs.
The first four teams to be eliminated from the playoffs are Pittsburgh, Louisiana, UAB and Mercer. These teams all started their seasons really well, and they had a very dramatic fall off. The first four teams into the playoffs are Virginia Tech, Arizona State, TCU and Michigan. These four teams are the teams that started hot and stayed hot looking clear to the path of playoffs. Each Conference in NCAA DI has a certain number of teams that play and then the winner of each goes to play in all college baseball playoffs. UCLA being the first team to already win out and get their ticket to play.
Some lower-grade teams in Division I are hoping to shock the world and get themselves into Omaha.
“This is the most competitive it’s been with small teams upsetting big teams,” said Aria Gerson, sports writer/photographer.
The warm weather states are the ones who have played the most baseball in the 2026 season. Auburn, who opened their season up against local college Youngstown State, has played nearly seventy and has still kept their spot in the top five. Georgia Tech who also has played nearly seventy games but did not start their season the way Auburn got themselves up to the number two spot and is projected to be the champions. Texas A&M started their season dominating anyone they played and earned the number one spot in their conference and is number seven in all NCAA DI.
These teams felt the heat and brought the heat.
“Warm weather means better baseball,” said Kendall Rodgers, college baseball writer.
The tournament for playoffs will start at the end of May with the winners of each eight conferences playing in a three game elimination bracket. Four teams will make it into the second round to get two teams to battle out in Omaha. The winner at Omaha will be the 2026 College Baseball Champion and make their way to the White House to receive a team trophy and each player gets the medal of hard work handed out each year after the king of Omaha is granted.
The president and White House representatives always look forward to a new team to be victorious.
“Last year having the LSU Tigers in the house was awesome and we hope to see a different group of young ball players here again this year,” said President Trump.
