Alabama Crimson Tide football starts on September 5th, 2026 against ECU at Bryant-Denny stadium.
The 2026-2027 season is one of the most important seasons in recent Tide history. After a disappointing end to last year, they look to go further into the playoffs this year.
A huge part of Alabama next year is Ryan Coleman-Williams. Coleman-Williams had a very lackluster sophomore year, after having a phenomenal season his freshman year. This is likely his last time playing for the Tide, so the team is counting on him to carry them into the playoffs.
Kalen DeBoer, Alabama Head Coach, praises the work Coleman-Williams has put in.
“Ryan’s expectations are just like all of ours. He expects an elite performance. He is going to continue to grind and he is a leader for us on our football team. And he can be because he works as hard as anyone who is out there, so it is paying off and showing up,” says DeBoer.
Another important aspect for the Tide is young QB, Keelon Russell. Russell is in a starting position battle with Austin Mack. Both quarterbacks have the talent to start, but it comes down to who fits the system better. Many fans believe Russell is the correct choice, as he is the highest ranked Alabama prospect ever.
DeBoer makes it clear that the decision on who to start is very difficult.
“Both of them are extremely talented. They’re committed on an extremely high level. They got playmaking abilities that are very similar. Growth in the offense and us continuing to grow offense around them,” he says.
The run game for Alabama wasn’t very good during the 2025-2026 season. Junior Daniel Hill and freshman Ezavier Crowell look to strive this year. Crowell is a 5-star RB and finished his senior season with 2,632 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns.
DeBoer praises Crowell’s physique and athleticism.
“There’s a lot to learn for him, even just the contact, the physicality that comes along with the next level up. But from athleticism, speed, got the strength, you’re optimistic. There’s a lot of promise,” he says.
