The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed quarterback Joe Flacco for one season, for a total of $6 million. With starting quarterback Joe Burrow hurt for most of the season last year, Flacco filled in for him for most of the season.
For the past few years, the Bengals have had a constant problem with quarterback injuries. This is because the offense of line is not great, leading to the defense of linemen getting to the quarterback too fast and injuring him. This happened last year, in one of the first games, but with Flacco, the Bengals are sure they are covered.
Even though this is Flacco’s 19th NFL football season, his ability to throw the ball far and accurately are still on spot.
With Flacco being with Cincinnati last year, he is excited to be back with the team, playing all together.
“I love the building. I enjoyed being there, and I’m excited about being back with the fellas,” says Flacco.
Being a backup for most of the season last year, Flacco threw for a total of 2,479 yards, which is considered amazing for a backup.
Being in free agency for a bit, Flacco was nervous but confident where he was going.
“I have good feelings there. The hardest thing for me is probably coming to grips with the fact that I might not play,” said Flacco.
With Cincinnati also signing backup quarterback Josh Johnson, him and Flacco go way back to 2015, where there they played a season together.
Flacco doesn’t want to sit on the sidelines and watch the team; he wants playing time and experience with the team, which is why selecting where to go was important.
“I felt like I had to be careful with some certain decisions. I don’t want to be in another situation where I’m going and playing four games like I did last year in Cleveland,” says Flacco.
