This year, Miami (OH) has shocked so many of their fans with their undefeated record this season. They came out the gate on fire blowing teams out by 20 and always having the upper hand in every game they have played.
If Miami keeps this up, there’s going to be serious talks about this year’s team, players and even the coaching staff.
Miami is 31-0 and is 15-0 in their conference; they have been powering through teams with their star guards Brant Byers and Peter Suder. They still have some competition coming forward but with how they’re looking they won’t lose.
Head Coach Travis Steele believes that the Redhawks are winning due to their grit.
“”We have real relationships, we have guys that have won before. They understand sacrifice. And we put this roster together being very, very intentional on what we’ve done. And I think that shows on the floor the way that our ball moves, the togetherness, the sacrifice, the connectivity on both sides of the ball. That’s our superpower,” said Coach Steele.
Miami has a great overall team, but they know how to put the ball in the hoop better than anyone. They have such a great balanced offense that allows them to dominate out at the 3-point line and down in the pain.
Miami has a perfectly balanced offense with the whole starting five contributing.
“Peter Suder leads the way at 14.6 points per contest, followed by Brant Byers (14.5 ppg.), Evan Ipsaro (13.9 ppg.), Eian Elmer (12.2 ppg.), Luke Skaljac (10.6 ppg.), and Almar Atlason (10.5 ppg.),” stats taken from NCAA reporters.
Miami is shooting the ball around 40% from the 3 and 54% from the field. They do a great job keeping the ball from the other team by only allowing 10.7 turnovers a game.
Coach Steele doesn’t care what other teams do; he trusts his team more than his life.
“We take care of the ball and we’re hard to stop, I don’t care if you zone us. I don’t care if you press us. I don’t care if you go man-to-man, drop coverage, hard hedge, switch, it really doesn’t matter. We’ve got so many guys and our guys share it. Defensively, we’ve got to have that identity, right? It’s got to be man-to-man defense,” said Coach Steele.
