The Cleveland Browns announced they are hiring former Ravens OC Todd Monken as their new HC on February 4th.
Monken is set to sign a 5 year contract with the Browns.
Monken comes back to Cleveland after a great few years as the OC for the Baltimore Ravens. He has a strong reputation for his ability to develop quarterbacks and to create high scoring aggressive offenses. Monken gives the organization hope for long term growth and success.
Browns GM Andrew Berry said Monken is what the team has been looking for.
“Todd brings a clear vision for how we want to play football,” said Berry.
Monken has previous head coaching experience at the college level and has worked with several NFL teams including Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Baltimore and Georgia where he helped lead them to multiple national championships.
Players and coaches around the league have praised Monken’s ability to connect with athletes.
“Todd brings big energy and accountability every day,” said Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Cleveland is hoping Monken can bring their dreams alive and save this franchise by creating a more consistent and aggressive offensive identity. We need to maximize the talent given especially at the quarterback position with the cap situation we are in.
For the Browns and Monken, this is an opportunity of hope and challenges.
“This is an exciting opportunity. I’m ready to get to work and help build a winning culture in Cleveland,” said Monken.
