“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” was released on November 18, 2005. It was directed by Mike Newell.
This was the fourth movie in the Harry Potter series. It follows Harry Potter’s (Daniel Radcliffe) fourth year attending Hogwarts. Harry was somehow picked for the Triwizard Tournament, even though he didn’t qualify for it. It is played with two other wizarding schools. Harry has to face many challenges like going against a dragon, rescuing his friends from the Black Lake and escaping a magical maze. This movie shows the return of Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) and the tragic death of Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson).
The movie by itself is considered amazing, but compared to the book, it’s not a good adaptation. The movie is viewed as rushed because of the amount of things they cut from the book. They cut characters and small plots in the movie. This causes there to be less character development and not as impactful.
A strength of this movie is the visual effects they use. They create creatures in the Triwizard Tournament to bring a scarier vibe to the movie and make the book come to life. They also use visual effects to show Voldemort’s return. This is very important because the audience doesn’t really know what he looks like until this movie. The visual effects are very impactful towards the movie and is the reason it is so successful.
Overall, this movie is recommended for any age who enjoy fantasy movies.
