Struthers High School Robotics Club has been preparing for their upcoming competition on December 15th at MCCTC.
The robotics teams in the club have recently finished a competition on November 15th. They have learned what they need to fix in order to score more points to rank higher. This year’s game is called “Push Back” and teams have to score blocks into the various goals around the ring.
Zachary Telego, a Robotics Club member, enjoys the new game compared to the previous one.
“Personally, I like this year’s game better than last year because it takes skill and a good robot to work and win the matches,” says Telego.
The club is split between two periods; each class has 45 minutes to focus on preparing their bots for the competition. Telego is a sophomore in robotics who has done robotics for 2 years. He likes the people on his team and likes how well they work together. He is the driver at the competitions and helped his team rank 7th out of 39 teams.
He believes that the robot is prepared well due to the time given.
“I think we had enough time to get ready and make sure our robot works and does what it is supposed to do,” says the student.
Mr. Donatelli, the Robotics coach, believes that this year’s game is better than last year’s because there’s more time to utilize. He believes that all the teams are as prepared as they can be because they all have a grasp of what they want to improve on before the next competition.
He has faith in this year’s teams.
Donatelli says, “I think the teams have a lot of potential and they are working hard.”
Additionally, they have a competition on December 20th.
