“Stranger Things Tales from ‘85” is an animated spinoff of the Netflix series Stranger Things.
The show is set in the winter of 1985, between seasons 2 and 3 of Stranger Things, where the kids (Eleven, Dustin, Lucas, Max) confront new supernatural creatures and mysteries in Hawkins. The monsters in this show are much different, and it centers around the Hawking Investigators Club battling Upside down threats like pumpkin zombies and vine-monsters in a lighter, animated and sometimes non-canonical style. The group of kids go through hard mysteries and fights trying to save Hawkins, Indiana, from trouble.
The actors chosen to voiceover the characters were really talented and good at what they were doing. The voice actors were Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as (Eleven), Braxton Quinney as (Dustin), Elisha Williams as (Lucas) and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as (Max). They all played amazing roles and did very well for them being so young. This added a great addition to this spinoff making it seem like the audience was watching Stranger Things again.
The choice of monsters was not a great addition to the show. It was supposed to be a spinoff of the show, so the audience would expect for it to be the same monsters, but it wasn’t. This made the show really childish and not as good as the audience was hoping for. They could have done a better job with the show. It was really rushed and too soon to come out.
Overall, the show deserves a 5/10 for the good actors chosen but also for the lack of suspense the original show had and excitement.
