“WONDER” INSPIRES STANDING OUT

“Wonder” is a well-known movie and novel focusing on accepting people for who they are.

The movie was released on November 17, 2017. The key cast includes Auggie Pullman (Jacob Tremblay), Isabel Pullman (Julia Roberts), Nate Pullman (Owen Wilson), Olivia Pullman (Izabela Vidovic), Jack Will (Noah Jupe), Summer (Millie Davis) and Justin (Nadji Jeter). The plot consists of Auggie, a ten-year-old born with a facial deformity who enters public school in fifth grade after being home-schooled. The movie focuses on following his journey to find friends, overcome obstacles and be appreciated by his classmates.

A popular part of “Wonder” is the relationships between the actors. One of the most important connections is between Auggie and Jack Will. In the beginning, Jack doesn’t want to be friends with Auggie, but over time, he learns what a real friendship is. This leads to them having a very strong bond. Another key relationship is between Auggie and his family, the Pullmans. His parents are so devoted to Auggie and his needs that his older sister, Via, is often pushed to the side. This makes it difficult for everyone to get along and is emotionally draining. Towards the end of the movie, their emotions are expressed, and they are able to figure everything out. Lastly, there is a growing connection between Via and Justin because Justin is supportive and brings joy to her life. He also accepts her family, and they end up dating. Overall, the relationships in the movie provide depth to the plot.

An additional aspect of the movie “Wonder” is the setting of Beecher Prep Middle School and the Pullman’s house in North River Heights, NYC. These are the places where Auggie has personal growth and social interactions. Throughout the plot,  Auggie’s home is his safe space because at first at school he is not welcomed by everyone. He has a hard time finding true friends and learning how everything works. Before this point, Auggie had spent his whole life being protected by his parents, but these settings forced him to grow and become more confident. Moreover, through these experiences, Auggie learns to become more independent and free.

In conclusion, “Wonder” would be rated a 5 out of 5 stars because it is a great movie, and the plot is very interesting. It would be recommended to anyone who likes movies where it is unpredictable what is going to happen next.
