Elliana Cavanaugh is a sophomore at Struthers High School. She is a student athlete and is part of the Struthers volleyball team. Cavanaugh has been playing since 7th grade.
The student is not only involved in volleyball, she is also involved in other school activities. These include Interact Club, Future Teachers Club and Medical Careers Club. She builds school spirit through these activities, and they always keep her busy.
Cavanaugh believes that you have to be a lot more focused in high school than you would in middle school.
“You always have to make sure to stay on top of your work and not mess around,” says the student.
This school year, Cavanaugh took a variety of classes, some more difficult than others. These classes are Anatomy, Honors English, Chemistry, Financial Literacy, Honors Algebra Two, Honors American History and Journalism. The student would not recommend these classes to other students if they are not going to stay on top of their work.
Cavanaugh has to balance her time between school and sports, so she uses her free time to the best of her ability.
“I make sure that I am as productive as possible in my study halls and make time for other activities,” says the athlete.
The student has been an active member in her school clubs, and she is always eager to participate in school activities. Being a member of the volleyball team makes her more engaged in her school, which shows her strong school spirit.
The athlete feels it can be difficult to be involved in athletics as a student.
“if you don’t stand on top of your work, then it’s difficult but if you do stay on top of it then that’ll be perfectly fine,” says Cavanaugh.
