Addison Liptak is a senior athlete at Struthers High School. Liptak cheers, golfs, as well as plays softball.
Liptak switches between center and left field; she has played these positions throughout high school. She has played softball all four years of high school.
The senior is a very busy girl, but enjoys this because it keeps her involved especially in her last month of high school.
“It is really hard to manage my time, but I make it work. Right now, I only work on the weekends because my schedule fluctuates so much. As for homework, I really have to push myself to complete everything in school because I don’t have much time when I get home. I just have to constantly remind myself that everything will work out,” says Liptak.
Seeing these people who motivate her at her games and supporting her pushes her to play to the best she possibly can.
Having someone who inspires you especially in a sport is something truly unmatchable. For this student, it is her family.
“Some people who have inspired me to do softball are my dad, my papa and my brother. Seeing how passionate my brother was for the sport and how my dad supported his goals was something that inspired me to give it a try. I also loved how much my papa enjoyed watching the Yankees and his favorite player, Derek Jeter, so I wanted to make him proud,” says the senior.
Softball requires not only physical skill, but also dedication, time management and strong support from family and teammates.
With that support in mind, many athletes are motivated to push themselves further and give their best effort everyday.
“I would tell the underclassmen to always put in the most effort, even when they don’t feel like it. The many practices and winter league will pay off in the end and make you a better player overall,” says the student athlete.
