Landon Fox is a freshman that plays basketball and football at Struthers High School.
Between the two sports, Fox has already spent time on varsity. This year, his greatest achievement was winning the freshman basketball tournament.
Fox is proud to go undefeated in the tournament and win it all on the freshman team this year.
“Beating Poland in the freshman tournament to go undefeated and win the game was the best part of this year,” said Fox.
Even though he has played all his life, this year he took it to a new level. Fox had to persevere through being young and people not believing in him. Regardless, he was able to perform at a high level and is only excelling from now.
Fox pushes through hardships within athletics, giving his all when he’s on the field or on the court.
“Most of the time people didn’t trust me to play on the higher level in high school and that was really hard,” said Fox.
While playing AAU in between football and basketball, most of his time during the school year is taken up. Still, he is able to keep his grades up. To not give up, he uses his motivation to keep trying his best.
The athlete encourages himself by wanting to show everyone his true skill within sports.
“My motivation is my family and also myself. I want to prove my skill and overall prove myself,” said Fox.
He plans to play both sports all four years of high school and has set a few goals for next year already. For football, he wants to win more than 2 games and get all conference NE8, and for basketball, win the NE8–or come close–and to score 250 points.
